Equity.
Imagination.
Olivia von Edeskuty is a Twin Cities–based freelance theatre artist whose work bridges storytelling, social change, and community-building. As a director, designer, educator, and advocate, she is committed to creating work that fosters compassion and uplifts underrepresented voices, motivating change and compassion for others. Her practice is rooted in equity, imagination, and a deep belief in the transformative power of the arts. .Her approach is deeply collaborative, grounded in the belief that artists are most effective when they have hands-on experience in a wide range of roles—from production to administration. Olivia’s artistic work spans directing, dramaturgy, costume design and construction, scenic painting, and stage management.
Olivia is the Founder of Common Creators, a collaborative arts nonprofit focused on neighborhood placemaking and creative civic engagement. Olivia holds a BFA in Directing from Nebraska Wesleyan University, where she contributed to over 35 productions during her undergraduate years. She now collaborates on productions with schools, theatre companies, and civic organizations across the Twin Cities Area.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Olivia moved back to her home in Minneapolis, shifting her focus to community-centered nonprofit work, where she developed a passion for volunteer training, affirming mentorship, social justice advocacy, and culturally responsive program design. She has led collaborations with organizations like JSAW / Help Boardshop, Community Emergency Services, ICCM Life Center, The Midtown Greenway Coalition, and The Brand Lab. Through these roles, she developed and managed affirming, community-driven programs serving youth, families, and volunteers. Her strengths in mentorship, program design, and culturally responsive service continue to inform her work in the arts.
Olivia brings curiosity, care, and collaborative energy to every project. Whether she’s directing a production or mentoring young artists, her goal is the same: to create spaces where people feel seen, empowered, and inspired to act. She continues to direct and design across the Twin Cities and is always seeking new opportunities to amplify diverse stories and nurture spaces of radical inclusion and imagination.
